Amitabh Bachchan’s ‘Aankhen’ sequel in trouble again?

News surrounding ‘Aankhen 2’ has been doing the rounds over the last couple of years. While it seemed like the film had gone through its bad times, it now has become apparent that the film is still in troubled waters.

The thriller starring Amitabh Bachchan and directed by Anees Bazmee, was announced in August 2016 with Arshad Warsi and Regina Cassandra, along with Ileana D’Cruz being declared as a part of the film’s cast line-up. However, the latter denied her involvement in the film, which marked the first issue against the film.

A source told Deccan Chronicle, “Rajtaru Studios claimed that they owned the title and the film’s content, and sidelined Doshi from it. Anees continued on the project and the others were out. Recently, Gaurang registered the title Aankhen Returns, leading to Rajtaru firing a missive and a notice. Doshi has now reciprocated with another notice. As it stands, till this is sorted out, there will be no sequel.”

The original ‘Aankhen’ was directed by Vipul Shah for producer Gaurang Doshi.
