Amitabh Bachchan to host ‘Bigg Boss 3’

Indian TV channel Colors has roped in Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan to host the new series of ‘Bigg Boss’, the Indian version of ‘Big Brother’.

The superstar who is no stranger to television had fronted two series’ of ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’, which helped STAR Plus topple its rivals back in 2000.

In a statement, Amitabh said, “This is one show that has intrigued me immensely as a viewer ��� its format, its contestants and the psychological battle within the house. That intrigue, coupled with the unique concept that Colors shared with me for this season, excited me to be a part of ‘Bigg Boss’ this year.”

In ‘Bigg Boss’, Big B will interview the housemates as they get evicted. According to the channel, he will play the role of a ‘pop philosopher,’ giving housemates the benefit of his wisdom and advice.

The new series will be returning on Colors in October. Unlike the previous series’, the new season will see Bachchan invite viewers to send in their choices of housemates and Colors will attempt to get some of the people chosen by viewers.

The last series of ‘Bigg Boss’ was hosted by Shilpa Shetty after her successful stint on the UK ‘Big Brother’ series.

UK viewers are likely to see the new series of ‘Bigg Boss’, when Colors launches in the UK later this year.
