Bollywood legend, Amitabh Bachchan is reportedly being lined up to star in Apple TV’s upcoming series ‘Shantaram’, helmed by Justin Kurzel.
The show, which is expected to go on the floors in early 2021, will be based on Gregory David Roberts’ best-selling novel of the same name. Reports say that the series was initially due to go on the floors this year but had been put on hold due to the coronavirus crisis. The outdoor shoot in Mumbai is being planned in places where the risk is low.
Bachchan will play the role of crime lord, Khader Khan. Apparently, Mira Nair was also working on a similar concept with Johnny Depp as the lead. A source told Mid-Day, “Amitabh Bachchan, who was supposed to be part of Nair’s film, will be attached to the series. He is likely to play crime lord Khader Khan.”
