Amitabh Bachchan honoured with Dadasaheb Phalke Award

President Ram Nath Kovind has presented Amitabh Bachchan with the 50th Dadasaheb Phalke Award, for his outstanding contributions to Indian cinema.

Cited on NDTV Entertainment, Bachchan attended the prestigious award presentation at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi, and was accompanied by Jaya Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan.

After receiving the award, Bachchan said, “Jab iss puruskar ki ghoshna hui to mere mann mein ek sandeh utha. Ki kya kahin ye sanket hai mere liye ki bhai sahab aapne bahut kaam kar liya, ab ghar baith ke aaram kar lijiye. Kyunki abhi bhi thoda kaam baki hai jise mujhe poora karna hai.”

Union Minister, Prakash Javadekar, had announced back in September that Bachchan had been selected for the Dadasaheb Phalke Award for entertaining people for two generations, “The legend Amitabh Bachchan who entertained and inspired for 2 generations has been selected unanimously for Dadasahab Phalke Award. The entire country and international community is happy. My heartiest Congratulations to him.”

Last week, the ‘Badla’ (2019) actor was unable to attend the National Film Awards due to ill health.
