Amit Kumar on appearing on ‘Indian Idol 12’: “I did what I was told”

‘Indian Idol 12’ has been on our screens for a few month and the talent is unmatched this season, as the audiences have also said repeatedly. However, singer Amit Kumar – who attended as a guest for a Kishore Kumar tribute episode – has said that he didn’t enjoy it and was asked to praise all the contestants.

He shared with E Times, “I did what I was told. I was told sabko praise karna hai. I was told jo jaisa bhi gaaye usko uplift karna hai because it’s a tribute to Kishore da. I thought it will be a homage to my father. But once there, I just followed what I was asked to do. I had told them to give me portions of the script in advance, but nothing of that sort happened.”

The episode faced quite a bit of backlash before Amit Kumar’s comments, with many viewers unimpressed with the 500 songs tribute to Kishore Kumar, which had judges Neha Kakkar and Himesh Reshammiya also singing.
