Amazon Prime’s US Open live stream criticised

Amazon Prime’s live streaming of the US Open has been deluged with complaints from viewers.

The digital giant has scooped up a five-year streaming package deal for UK/Ireland. However, it seems the negative feedback has resulted in Amazon Prime temporarily disabling its comments page on the service. Tennis fans have expressed their dismay at the website’s poor service.

A tweet on social media said, “Amazon has stopped allowing new reviews being posted for its US Open Highlights service – 96% bad 1 or 2 star ratings: “There can be a number of reasons for this, including unusual reviewing activity”. Live US Open coverage still accepting reviews it seems (80%-plus 1-star).”

The service was described as “a complete embarrassment” by one reviewer, while another said, “The pictures are poor quality. The sound is out of line with the video. The volume of sound of the commentary is much lower than the umpire.”

Prior to Amazon Prime, the US Open was broadcast on Sky Sports in the UK/Europe.
