ZEE Network owned Alpha ETC Punjabi is fending of new competition in a big way with today’s announcement that it had acquired the rights to nearly 40 new Punjabi movies.
Alpha ETC Punjabi telecasts two films per week at the weekend and for the past few months has been relying on repeats.
Some of the movies it will show later this year are Assa Nu Maan Watna Da, Gabroo Punjab Da, Jatt Di Zameen, Chann Pardesi, Patola, Sardara Kartara, Pind Di Kuri, Nalaik, Sikandra, Duniya Matlab Di, Badla, Zor Jatt Da, Ucha Pind, Badla Jatti Da, Mirza Jatt, Nanak Dukiya Sab Sansar, Mahi Munda, Jigari Yaar, Tabahi, Rabb Dian Rakha, Pagdi Sambhal Jaata, Truck Driver, Sir Dhad Di Baazi, Kee Banu Duniya Da, Lalkara Jatti Da, Bagawat, Sawa Lakh Se Ek Ladaun, Unkhili Muthiyar, Jatt Da Gandasa, Jaat Jeona Maar and Jagira.
Alpha ETC Punjabi’s latest move comes as good timing or was it just the case of good planning. This week saw the launch of Alpha ETC Punjabi’s first full on competition in the shape of Channel Punjab. The latter will be fighting for the same eyeballs the former is targeting its shows to.
