Alia Bhatt’s skin tone gets darker for ‘Udta Punjab’

With the Indian film industry exploring more realistic ways to tell stories, Alia Bhatt’s new avatar in her forthcoming film ‘Udta Punjab’, has finally been revealed and many will have noticed that there is a change in her skin tone.

Helmed by Abhishek Chaubey, the makers of the film are expanding the boundaries of what it means to be a lead female in a film. In order to fit the role for the film, Bhatt will be seen playing a girl of a much darker skin tone, despite her naturally fair appearance in real life.

With the promo poster of Bhatt’s look having been revealed recently along with the other characters, there is now a greater excitement for the film.

The film will also star Shahid Kapoor, Diljit Dosanjh and Kareena Kapoor Khan, and is set to release on 17th June.
