As recently reported by BizAsia, filmmaker Srijit Mukherji was quoted as saying he wants to remake his Bangla film ‘Hemlock Society’ (2012) with Alia Bhatt, which resulted in news that the project was actually on the cards. However, Mukherji has now taken to Twitter to clarify that his quote was taken out of context and he has not approached Bhatt.
Mukherji stated that the news was “absolutely baseless”, and went on to add, “It was a casual, hypothetical conversation that too in a different context, namely casting for ‘Begum Jaan’.”
Bhatt, who will next be seen in ‘Kapoor & Sons’ may not be working with Mukherji in the near future, but her father Mahesh Bhatt tweeted Mukherji saying he wouldlove to see his daughterdirected by him.
The only film of Mukherji’s which is currently being remade in Hindi is ‘Kahini’ (2015).
