Superstar Alia Bhatt has expressed her desire to play the role of the goddess Sita if a film would ever be made on Amish Tripathi’s upcoming book, ‘Sita – Warrior of Mithila.’

Bhatt might have just nine films so far on her CV, but she’s already portrayed a variety of roles on the big screen and also won various critical accolades. From playing the role of a rich diva in ‘Student of the Year’ (2012), a south Indian girl in ‘2 States’ (2014) to a Bihar girl in ‘Udta Punjab’ (2016) and a young urban girl in ‘Dear Zindagi’ (2016), Bhatt has tried her hand at quite a few genres.

Recently, when 24-year-old actor said that she would love to play the role of Sita, it created a lot of curiosity among her fans. The actor expressed her desire at the trailer launch of Tripathi’s much anticipated novel on Tuesday, reports the Hindustan Times.

Smitten by the trailer, where Sita is shown in a stunning cinematic visual, Bhatt said that it would be interesting to play her character. “If a film is being made on the book, I would love to play Sita. Her story that we get to know about in this book isn’t known to many,” she said.

She also added that given Ramayana is one of the most talked about story in Indian mythology, she feels people would enjoy watching it on-screen. “The fact that Sita was a warrior, and a protector, also got me interested. So I guess it would be exciting, as I’ve never played something like this before,” added Bhatt.

Bhatt then asked Tripathi that if she plays Sita, whom he would like to cast as Lord Ram, to which the author replied saying Ranveer Singh would be able to do justice to the role.

Meanwhile, Bhatt will be next seen in director Ayan Mukerji’s next theatrical venture titled ‘Dragon,’ which also stars Ranbir Kapoor.
