Alia Bhatt: “Karan is my eternal mentor”

Alia Bhatt 2

Alia Bhatt has had a bountiful start to her film career ever since her debut in ‘Student Of The Year’ (2012) and she owes it all to Karan Johar.

In the Hindustan Times, Bhatt refers to Johar as her “eternal mentor” saying, “He (Karan Johar) is a very big influence in my life. I genuinely feel that for a lot of my work ethics and behaviour, I owe it to Karan.”

The ‘Udta Punjab’ (2016) actor feels she is very similar to Johar in her attitude towards work. “The way he deals with people, and the way he behaves in his personal and professional life, I feel I am like that a lot too. He’s the example I’ve seen from my first film. My first visual of work was with Karan. My career, acting and films – everything was with him and I don’t mean what I saw on the television and big screen before I became an actor,” Bhatt added.

Bhatt recently appeared on Johar’s show ‘Koffee With Karan’ for the third time. Johar joked about her episode the first time she was on the show, because of her lack of general knowledge on naming the Indian President. Though this time round Bhatt made preparations, “I was slightly more careful this time, and didn’t say a lot of things that could have put me in trouble like my first appearance on the show.”

Being the daughter of Mahesh Bhatt and Soni Razdan, Bhatt explains how both her parents have influenced her as a person, “I take something from everybody in my life. My dad has been a huge influence in the way I think, or maybe how opinionated I am comes from him.”

“My mom influences me in softer ways of being understanding, compassionate, and caring towards people. So you can say I am different parts of various people around me.”
