Ali Zafar on ‘Teefa In Trouble’ soundtrack: “I wanted every song to be a movie-hit song”

Musician-actor Ali Zafar makes his debut in Pakistan films with ‘Teefa In Trouble’, not just as an actor but the film is also a first for his production house – Lightingale Productions.

‘Teefa In Trouble’ is being helmed by Ahsan Rahim a well known ad-film maker, with Maya Ali as leading lady opposite Zafar, Javed Sheikh, Mehmood Aslam and Faisal Qureshi also feature in the film.

Of course, Zafar being the musician that he his has also composed and sung for the film soundtrack. In The Express Tribune, Zafar said, “I think it has to be believable, for instance whenever Maya sings in the film, it’ll be Aima Baig, not five different voices.”

The singer-song writer also hopes that the ‘Teefa In Trouble’ soundtrack will be a collection of superhits, which he feels is lacking in the industry. “I wanted every song to be a movie-hit song. Every song should be immediately catchy, hummable and for the listeners to feel it. And that’s how I write most of my music. Whether they are PSL anthems or the soundtrack on a film, my songs are for people to sing and enjoy. I would say it’s simple writing but it’s writing that’s meant to connect with the cross-section, all age-groups and everybody.”

The ‘Mere Brother Ki Dulhan’ (2011) actor is currently embroiled in an ongoing legal battle from fellow musician Meesha Shafi, who has accused Zafar of sexual harassment.

‘Teefa In Trouble ‘ is slated to release on the 20th July.
