Ali Asgar gets anticipatory bail

Actor Ali Asgar who plays role of Dadi in the popular TV show ‘Comedy Nights with Kapil’ was today granted anticipatory bail by the Bombay high court that restrained Maharashtra and Haryana police from arresting the comedian.

According to PTI, the bail has been granted in association with an offence registered in Haryana’s Kaithal district for supposedly showing self-styled godman Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh in bad light on a television show.

Justice Ajay Gadkari approved reprieve to Asgar for a week, as his counsel, advocate Shyam Keswani, stated that the television actor would approach appropriate court in Haryana promptly and seek regular anticipatory bail.

The judge also directed the police to release him on solvent surety of Rs 25,000 if he was arrested during this period.
