Al Jazeera plans launch of Hindi service in India

Al Jazeera is planning the launch of Hindi language news service in India, according to a report on afaqs!.

Speaking to the industry magazine, Al Anstey, managing director, Al Jazeera English, says, “India is a very important market for us. We are certainly exploring the opportunities and discussing the launch of a Hindi channel to cater to the needs of Indian audiences.”

Its not yet been confirmed as to when the new Hindi channel will be available in the country.

Meanwhile, the broadcaster has just launched Al Jazeera English after a tie-up with direct-to-home (DTH) service provider Dish TV to reach Indian households.
