Al Jazeera English in talks with Virgin Media

Al Jazeera English is seeking carriage on cable platform Virgin Media, according to a report on BroadcastNow.

Phil Lawrie, who was previously at Turner Broadcasting System as the vice president of commercial distribution and digital media sales, will look after global distribution at Al Jazeera English. He aims to make the channel’s content into as many homes around the world as possible.

Lawrie added that Al Jazeera English is also in talks with a number of mobile networks in UK and Europe about enhancing its multimedia service.

Currently, Al Jazeera English is available in the UK on Sky Digital only.
