With his latest roles being those of very interesting characters, news has it that Akshaye Khanna will tap into another one to add to the list, with a film based on 10 real life cases.
Titled ‘375: Marzi Ya Jabardasti’, the film will address the issue of rape and how the subject can be misused by both men and women. “In recent times, there have been a number of cases where it’s ambiguous whether it was rape or consensual sex,” Pinkvilla reports director Manish Gupta revealing.
He want in to add, “The law can be misused by both men and women alike. This film is about how a law against rape made to protect women can also be misused by them.’”
Talking about casting Khanna, who will don the role of a lawyer, Gupta explained, “I did not want a typical Bollywood hero who sings and dances. I needed an intelligent guy, somebody who looks 40, qualities I found in Akshaye.”
Having need to get the story straight, it seems the director has undertaken a lot of research. “There is a special court with a special female judge who only hears rape cases. I have also met survivors, their families, alleged rapists and both their lawyers,” the director said.
He went on stating, “It’s very disturbing not only for the accused and the survivors but also their families.”
Also starting Richa Chadha, ‘375: Marzi Ya Jabardasti’ is set to go on floors on March-April.
