Akshaye Khanna original choice for ‘Sanju’?

When Rajkumar Hirani announced that Ranbir Kapoor would be playing the role of Sanjay Dutt in the biopic ‘Sanju’ (2018) there was much speculation as to how he will pull it off. However, news has it that the role was originally set for Akshaye Khanna, but he just missed the boat due to technical reasons.

“Raj Kumar Hirani and I had a couple of meetings. In spite of innumerable ‘look tests’, I was a misfit in that character. So I missed out on working with him in the biopic,” Deccan Chronicle reports the actor explain.

He went on to add, “I feel sad at not being able to work in Sanju after being bestowed upon with a chance to be the part of the film. He (Raju Hirani) is such an incredible and brilliant story teller.”

Despite having missed a big chance here Khanna’s isn’t short if having worked with some other tremendous talents. When talking of those he has worked with who have now passed, Khanna’s expressed, “They were all great stars as well, and working with them was a great experience. I consider myself blessed for having got a chance to work with all of them.”

Khanna’s will next be seen in the Anupam Kher starrer ‘The Accidental Prime Minister’, set to hit the big screens in 11th January.
