Akshay-Ranveer are pure nostalgia on ‘Koffee with Karan 6’

After last week’s relationship revelations, this week’s episode of ‘Koffee with Karan’ was very different. With Akshay Kumar sharing the couch with Ranveer Singh, viewers would’ve known from the teaser that this was one episode that would be not only funny but also full of nostalgia.

Right from the moment the two actors enter, with Kumar’s song Bholi Bhali Ladki playing, it seems the whole show was just a tribute to yesteryear somewhat. Singh remembered his first encounter with Kumar at the age of eight and his description got Kumar saying he’ll make a great director one day.

Aside from this, the funniest moments came when host Karan Johar asked the duo to enact a scene from the 90s but his own “villainous” gun-shot was the thing that had had Singh and Kumar in stitches. Another hilarious part was when Singh did an imitation of Kumar saying he dances at event, ending with “Mundan hai, bachcha ro raha hai, aur main naach raha hoon”.

Also, the biggest revelation (arguably) came when Singh said that his quirky outfits are often gifted to him by Johar, who buys things and then doesn’t think he can pull them off.

The rapid fire saw Kumar explaining that he would always answer a call from his mother, his wife and his manager. Singh, however, very amazingly dodged a question on which Khan he’d like to act with if given the opportunity, discarding the three Khans and opting for Taimur Ali Khan instead.

The games round was perhaps the most hilarious part of the show, with Kumar being given cues by Singh in the film jodis questions. The phonecall to a star and challenge to ask the person at the other end to say “Key Karan, it’s me” was rightly won by Kumar after he chose to call Arjun Kapoor after Singh already had. He also called his wife Twinkle Khanna and completed the trio with Riteish Deshmukh.

Singh and Kumar’s chemistry was a comfortable watch and it was obvious that they are similar to an extent which makes watching them together a pleasure, quite frankly.
