Akshay Kumar’s ‘Gold’ heads to Bradford

Reema Kagti’s hockey film ‘Gold’ is currently being shot in Leeds, UK. However, the film’s crew will soon be heading to Bradford where Akshay Kumar will join them, BizAsiaLive.com has learnt.

It’s thought that Kumar will join the schedule in August. The Olympic Games that the film is based on happened at the Wembley Stadium in 1948. Kagti told Deccan Chronicle, “My friend, the lyricist-writer Ankur Tiwari, shared the idea of a movie on the epic  Olympian hockey match and I finally got down to doing my own sports film”.

Kagti also clarifies that the film won’t be the exact events as they happened, “It’s a fictional take on what happened. The game of hockey would feature prominently in the plot. But there will also be an intense drama at the forefront. And it is not just the golden victory in 1948 we will be looking at, but it will encompass 12 crucial years in India’s history”.

The film also stars Amit Sadh and Kunal Kapoor. Rumour has it that Mouni Roy will be marking her debut in the film too.
