Akshay Kumar undecided about playing Dara Singh in wrestling biopic

Looks like wrestling films are all the rage, following the success of ‘Sultan’ (2016) and ‘Dangal’ (2016) but it seems Akshay Kumar is in two minds about playing the role of Dara Singh in an upcoming biopic based on the wrestler. There have been many rumours around whether the actor will play the lead role, but it seems he is still to make his decision.

According to DNAIndia, the wrestler-cum-actor’s son, Vindhu Dara Singh, said “Yes, we have spoken to Akshay about the biopic. He hasn’t heard the script yet. He knows we want him in the film. He is little confused, he is thinking. He is a very dedicated actor and whatever he does, he does from the heart”.

This follows earlier reports in the media where Kumar has said he would need time to bulk up for the role. However Singh thinks the actor would be well suited to the role saying “Akshay thinks he needs to bulk up for the role, I don’t think so. I think he needs to be like what he was in Brothers or may be ten per cent more. I think he will be wonderful as Dara Singh”.

Despite the number of wrestling films the audience has seen Singh said “I think this will be the best wrestling film that could ever be made. I think Dara Singh was Dara Singh there can be nobody like him. We want to create a great piece of work which will be an inspiration for youngsters”.
