Remakes of South films are in vogue thanks to the blockbusting success of films like Bodyguard۪ (2011), Rowdy Rathore۪ (2012), Singham۪ (2011) and the like. Aamir Khan, of course, was one of the first to start off the trend when he remade Ghajini۪ which was directed by A R Murugadoss back in 2008.

Since then the Tamil director hasn۪t worked on any Hindi films. Until now that is. The latest buzz in B-Town is that he will be working with Akshay Kumar in the remake of his own film Thupaki۪.

“This will be Murugadoss۪s first film after Ghajini۪. Akshay and he have been planning this film from a long time but they were not able to zero down on any subject. They have now finalised on this film that was earlier scheduled to be made in Hindi. However, due to Akki۪s packed schedule, the making got delayed. Now, the remake is scheduled to start in December. The lead actress is yet to be finalised, ۝ said a source to Mid Day.

The Tamil version of the film, Thupaki۪ stars Vijay and Kajal Aggarwal and is currently under production. Rumour has it that the Hindi version will be produced by Kumar۪s close friend Vipul Shah, who۪s worked with Kumar on several successful films in the past.
