Akshay Kumar teams up again with director Aanand L Rai for ‘Gorkha’
Superstar Akshay Kumar will team up once again work with director Aanand L Rai for ‘Gorkha’ – a movie based around the legendary Gorkha battalion of the Indian army.
Kumar will play the role of Major General Ian Cardozo, reports Koimoi. The movie will be based on Major Cardoza’s life who had fought in 1962, 1965, and in 1971’s India-Pakistan war.
Major Cardozo was attending a course at the Defense Services Staff College in Wellington at that time when troops were deployed for battle in 1971. When the second of command died in the battle, Cardozo was ordered to replace. Tragedy struck when Cardozo walked on a landmine during the battle and he had to amputate his leg due to the unavailability of a proper doctor.
Sometimes you come across stories so inspiring that you just want to make them. #Gorkha – on the life of legendary war hero, Major General Ian Cardozo is one such film. Honoured to essay the role of an icon and present this special film.
