Akshay Kumar had a special cameo in ‘Dishoom’ (2016) and many reviews said he was one of the best parts of the film. As a gay character, it was definitely something different for Kumar to play. He recently spoke about the role at a media interaction.

When asked whether it was a big deal for him to take up such a role, Kumar is quoted by Box Office India as saying, “No. At the point, I didn۪t! Now that my Bumfie is well and truly out there. I۪ve been hearing that I really might be a first among my generation to do such a role, and you know what, being proud of one۪s decisions is what makes your choices infectious_”

“Gay, straight, fat or thin, we are what we are, and I was proud to play a gay character finally in my career. But the incredible response I۪ve received from so many people is what makes this so amazing. All I can say is thanks for the unconditional love”, he added.

Kumar will be seen next in ‘Rustom’ in the role of a naval officer. It’s slated for release on 12th August.
