Akshay Kumar faces legal action over advert

Akshay Kumar has landed in legal trouble after portraying a Maratha warrior in his latest washing powder commercial.

The star has been blamed for hurting the Maratha sentiments, reports Mid Day. In the commercial, Kumar returns to his kingdom after defeating his enemies. When one of his soldier’s wives taunts the army for his dirty clothes, the star says if his army can win battles, it can also wash clothes. The advert then shows Kumar dancing while washing clothes. However, the commercial has not gone down well with a section of people.

According to Times of India, a police complaint has been filed at Worli police station in Mumbai against him for mocking the Marathi culture and hurting the sentiments.

Kumar is yet to respond.
