Ajay Devgn’s ‘Taanaji: The Unsung Warrior’ still on the cards?

Ajay Devgn who announced last year he was going to produce ‘Taanaji: The Unsung Warrior’, a project close to his heart, has had a slight set back regarding backing from production houses.

Reported on DNA India, this ambitious project is based on the war hero Tanaji Malusare, a general in the army of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, who sacrificed his life to recapture the fort of Kondhana from the Mughals in the historic Battle of Sinhagad, 1670.

When Devgn made the announce, there were two other production houses and a multi studio corporation which had agreed to the project, but in the end this set up didn’t materialise. Though this setback isn’t deterring the ‘Baadshaho’ (2017) actor, instead Devgn himself will be taking on the production reigns and will launch on a much bigger scale, including a 3D version.

The ‘Shivaay’ (2016) actor is also using his own VFX company for the special effects, and incidentally happen to be one of the best in the industry.

A source reveals that pre-production work has commenced. “Work has begun on creating the sets and shooting is scheduled to start in the next few months. Someone hinted it will begin in mid-September.”

At a recent promotional launch for Devgn’s upcoming film, ‘Raid’, the ‘Singham’ (2011) star shared that he’s not too keen on setting a release date, as it creates pressure in completing the project and doesn’t want to compromise the content and vision of the film.

‘Taanaji: The Unsung Warrior’ is slated to release next year.
