Ajay Devgn to helm biopic of Jaswant Singh Gill

Ajay Devgn, has apparently united with Abhinav Shuklaa to make a film on Jaswant Singh Gill, a chief engineer who rescued 64 miners at the Mahabir Colliery of Raniganj in West Bengal over 30 years ago in 1989. Devgn has also managed to involve Tinu Suresh Desai who directed the national award winning ‘Rustom’ (2016).

The incident took place in November 1989, when roughly 220 miners were working, and an underground water table cracked with water fiercely flowing through the walls. Gill, who had been trained in rescuing techniques chose to stay down until the miners could be pulled out to safety saving a whopping 64 miners.

According to the Times of India “The makers have acquired the official rights to the life story of Jaswant Singh Gill” and that Devgn will commence shooting in 2018.
