Aishwarya Rai Bachchan publicist responds to “racist” ad

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has been embroiled in controversy after reports that a jewellery brand advert in which features in is racist.

India Times reports that the image below represents nobility from a bygone era, where the woman is seated comfortably and the child struggling to even stand properly, holds an over-sized umbrella for the lady. The extremely fair skin of the lady in contrast to the dark complexion of the child cannot be just a coincidence! The ad makers have carefully crafted the ad in such a way to give it a certain visual effect. Well, putting it straight, the ad is not just racist but to some extent also encourages people۪s fancy around servitude.

However, Bachchan’s publicist said, “On the onset we would like to thank you on drawing our attention to the observation of the perception of the advertisement. Here is an attachment of the shot taken by somebody during the shoot. The final layout of the ad is entirely the prerogative of the creative team for a brand. However shall forward your article as a viewpoint that can be taken into consideration by the creative team of professional working on the brand visual communication.”
