Aishwarya Rai Bachchan to pay tribute to Lata Mangeshkar in next

With her last on-screen stint gaining her huge applause, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is all geared up for her next where she plays a singer in Atul Manjrekar’s ‘Fanney Khan’. Furthermore, apparently, Rai Bachchan will be paying tribute to the great Lata Mangeshkar as her character is a fan.

“She plays a popular singer in the film and a fan of Lata. You can’t escape Lata’s influence if you’re playing a singer,” Deccan Chronicle reports a source stating.

Also starring Anil Kapoor, the reports goes on to state how the makers of the film are in the process of acquiring the rights of some of Mangeshkar’s songs. “Apart from a few original tracks, Aishwarya will also recreate a few of Lata’s numbers. That isn’t the film’s only connection with Lata. Anil Kapoor’s daughter, who plays an aspiring singer, is named Lata,” the source went on to add.

The singer herself was also spoken to about the film. When asked about how she felt about Rai Bachchan paying her a tribute, the veteran singer expressed, “It is good to hear that she is fond of my singing. I think I sang for her for the first time in ‘Mohabbatein’ (2000). The song Humko Humhi Se Chura Lo was a hit. It’s a beautiful melody and Aishwarya looked lovely lip-syncing it.”

Also starring Rajkummar Rao, ‘Fanney Khan’ is set to hit the big screens on 15th June.
