Aishwarya Rai Bachchan honoured by President of India Ram Nath Kovind

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan who is a global icon has most certainly been an influential part of Bollywood, has been recognised for her achievements in India and internationally.

Reported on Mid-day, the Ministry of Women and Child Development of Government of India who co-hosted the event with WCD Minister Smt. Maneka Gandhi, has said Rai was honoured for being the first Global Icon from India and also for being the first Indian actor to be a jury member at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival.

112 women from in and out of the country, have all been added to a list titled ‘First Ladies’, were at the presentation and lunch, held on the 20th January at the Rashtrapati Bhawan, Delhi. The award recognises them for being the first in their field to have achieved so much and for making India proud.

President of India, Ram Nath Kovind presented the awards on the day. Some of the other names included, Biocon’s Managing Director – Kiran Mazumdar, Shila Dawre – India’s first autorickshaw driver, Ayesha Aziz, the youngest pilot in India and the first female pilot from Kashmir and Ruveda Salam, a doctor and Kashmir’s first woman IPS officer.
