Aishwarya Rai Bachchan will soon be seen playing the role of Dalbir Kaur in the upcoming biopic, ‘Sarbjit’. However, although the film is based on real life characters, the actress chose not to meet Dalbir Kaur, whom her character is based on, prior to the shooting of the film.
PTI quote Rai Bachchan as having said, “We (Dalbir and I) don’t look the same but Omung Kumar (director) was clear he wanted me to do it. We had Dalbirji on board, for referencing of her role we had media which had documented things about her… So we took that to gauge mannerisms. I have not spent time with her before shooting for the film… I did not meet her in advance.”
The actress added, “When I am playing real life characters it is important for me to stay true to the director’s vision and narrative.”
Rai Bachchan has previously essayed a real-life character in the 2006 British film, ‘Provoked’.
‘Sarbjit’ stars Randeep Hooda in the title role. Richa Chadha also featuresin the film alongside Hooda and Rai Bachchan.
