Sarabjit Singh first made headlines when Salman Khan launched an online petition for Singh’s freedom from a Pakistani jail in 2012. Unfortunately, Singh passed away before his freedom and his tragic story will now be captured on the big screen by filmmaker Omung Kumar. Kumar says his leading lady, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, was on board for the film within just 15 minutes of their initial meeting.
“We directly approached Aishwarya as I know her since a long time. After meeting her, she agreed to do the film in just 15 minutes as the role was demanding and she could see herself in the role. So she instantly said yes,” Kumar toldIANS.
The biopic sees Rai Bachchan in the role of Sarabjit Singh’s sister, Dalbir Kaur, while actor Randeep Hooda has been signed on to play Singh.
Shooting for the film is schedules to commence in November this year.
