‘Omkara'(2006) director Abhishek Chaubey once again struck gold with his recent release at the box office ‘Udta Punjab'(2016), a drama based on drug abuse in the northern state which not only garnered him superb reviews but also accolades for the acting talent presented on the big screen by the star cast consisting of Shahid Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Diljit Dosanjh. The director is said to be in no hurry to go behind the camera again, instead choosing to soak the glory, and will divert his attention to his skills as a producer.

As per reports bySpotboy E, Chaubey will be co-producing Satish Kaushik’s next directorial venture, which is a biopic. The collaboration follows after Kaushik assisted with Chaubey on ‘Udta Punjab’ with Kaushik confirming, “I have the rights to make a biopic on a man in Azamgarh (UP), who was declared dead on paper when he was alive and kicking. He had to fight for 18 years to prove that he is not dead. It’s a black comedy and will be produced by Abhishek Chaubey along with my company and Honey Trehan’s MacGuffin Pictures.”

The idea had actually been in the actor-filmmaker’s mind for a while however, following successes of biopics ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag'(2013), ‘Neerja'(2015) and ‘Sarbjit'(2016) in recent times, Kaushik only decided to bring it fruition now. “I refrained from directing it before because biopics weren’t as popular then.”
