Afghan Premier League T20 to be shown on FreeSports in UK

After grabbing the UK television rights for the Abu Dhabi T20 Trophy, FreeSports has announced that it will also air the inaugural Afghanistan Premier League starting today.

The Afghanistan T20 Premier League (APL) will have five teams, namely Kabul, Kandahar, Nangarhar, Paktia and Balkh, representing five regions of the country, the teams picking players via a draft system in the now youngest T20 league in the world.

Afghanistan Cricket Board Head of Media and Marketing, Lutfullah Stanikzai said, “I am delighted that FreeSports has joined us as the official broadcaster for the first season of Afghanistan Premier League. Afghanistan cricket has a large fan following in the UK and with the participation of several global T20 cricket stars in APLT20, this league will be an opportunity for cricket fans to watch excellent competitive cricket.”

Richard Webb, COO of FreeSports commented, “Having recently added the Abu Dhabi T20 Trophy to our cricket portfolio this week, we’re excited to add the Afghanistan Premier League T20 free to air throughout October too. The league features some of the world’s biggest cricket stars in the APL T20 and we look forward to showing the action as it unfolds to every home in the UK on FreeSports.”
