In a gala at the French embassy, actor-director Rahul Vohra was felicitated with France’s biggest award, previous recipients of which include Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan, for his contribution in French theatre. French Ambassador Fran̤ois Richier conferred him the Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres (Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters).
Vohra told Times Of India, “I never expected to get such a prestigious award. I am happy to be the part of list of legends who have received the award earlier. I am thankful to France government for recognising my hard work towards French theater and Arts.”
The honour is given to persons who have distinguished themselves by their creativity in the field of art, culture and literature or for their contribution to the influence of the arts in France and throughout the world.
Present at the function were Rajeev Sethi, Rahul Ram with wife Ayesha, Sandip and Mona Dikshit, Ustad Wasifuddin Dagar, Designer Amardeep Behl and an entire family of Mona Irani.
Among popular films, Vohra was seen in movies like ‘Monsoon Wedding’ (2001), ‘Raghu Romeo’ (2003), and ‘Swades’ (2004).
