ABP Group has brought back its flagship Hindi news channel, ABP News to the UK after a few months away.

The channel returned last month as a free-to-air service on the digital satellite platform.

ABP News has returned to the UK after being away from the market for a few months. The channel, is being distributed by Path Breakers, the same company that previously had Sahara One under its belt in the UK.

ABP News recently subscribed to audience measuring body, BARB, which from later this month will reporting official viewing data. To coincide with this, the channel has pulled out all the stops to promote ABP News’ return back to UK shores.

ABP Group , one the top media houses in India , was present in the UK market through its earlier brand name Star News. Star News was first launched in UK in October 2000 and was available till June 2012. On June 1st 2012, the channel was rebranded into its current avatar ABP News, in sync with the international identity change. Post this, the channel continued to be available in UK till November 2012.

Ashok Venkatramani, CEO of ABP News said, “Since the switch off of the channel in November 2012, there was a huge latent demand for our channel in the UK Market. There were numerous calls to us checking on the re-availability of the channel in UK market. Viewers in UK were sorely missing the channel and regular news updates from India. The launch of ABP News in the UK will enable us to achieve the objective of reaching out back to this audience.”

ABP News is free-to-air on Sky channel 817.
