ABP halts launch of Punjabi channel

Anand Bazar Patrika (ABP) Group has deferred the launch of its Punjabi news channel, ABP Sanjha, just hours before it was set to go live in India.

The broadcaster has been planning to launch ABP Sanjha since early 2013 and was finally given a licence by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting in India in July this year. However, according to Television Post, the broadcaster told its 180+ employees that the plan to launch has been on hold and offered them a three-month severance package.

���We have deferred the plans as the current environment was not conducive to the business,�۝ a source from the company told Television Post.
