Abhishek Kapoor on ‘Kedarnath’ being one of most important stories

It’s fair to say Abhishek Kapoor is definitely a good luck charm for newcomers, with the likes of Farhan Akhtar and Sushant Singh Rajput starting their career with him. Now Kapoor is all set to launch Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh’s daughter Sara Ali Khan, he has made an interesting move in making a film that he feels will inspire the India of today.

Titled ‘Kedarnath’, the film has been inspired by the stories of the survivors from he 2013 floods. Focusing on the spiritual and religious beliefs of their experiences, Kapoor expressed how it had helped him in bringing it on to screen. “In my house, spirituality has been a guiding principle. I am a big believer of Shivji and the cosmic forces that oversee us.There are two kinds of people in the spiritual world. Those who are Believers, and those who are seekers. A believer has trust in the universe and a seeker is one who isn’t but is trying to gain that trust.”

He went on to add, “I have been both, and I have had some great experiences spiritually. I am ordinarily a seeker, but at times I have found myself fully immersed in God.”

Talking about the film, Kapoor expressed, “The incident of the floods in 2013 also could not leave my mind, due to the stories that came out of it – devastating and remarkable in equal measure. I had to go ahead and develop a film set against that backdrop. I believe it is one of the most important stories I can tell for modern India.”
