Not long ago, it was reported by BizAsiaLive.com that Sushant Singh Rajput could be seen playing a dacoit in ‘Udta Punjab’ (2016) director Abhishek Chaubey’s next, allegedly titled ‘Chambal Ka Daku’. Now Chaubey has confirmed being in talks with the actor.
“Yes, I have finished penning the script and we’re in talks with Sushant Singh Rajput. He has read the script and liked it a lot. If everything goes well, it will go on floors by the end of this year,” said Chaubey, as quoted by Deccan Chronicle.
When asked why he wanted Singh Rajput on board with the film, he replied, “I really liked him in M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story. Also, after having met him, I understand that he is extremely hard working and confident. He suits our character, and we needed someone of his stature and persona to perform this action-oriented film based on the daakus of Chambal.”
Chaubey, when asked whether he had anyone else in mind if things didn’t work out with Singh Rajput, commented, “It’s Sushant, Sushant, and Sushant only”.
Singh Rajput will be seen next in ‘Raabta’ opposite Kriti Sanon which releases next month.
