Abhishek Chaubey, the director of upcoming film, ‘Udta Punjab’ has confessed he is impressed with actor Shahid Kapoor’s rapping skills in the movie. ��Apparently the actor got so involved with his character Tommy Singh, who is a rapper, that he ended up acquiring some skills himself.

Kapoor has rapped in two songs from the soundtrack, namely ‘Chitta Ve’ and the title track ‘Ud-Daa Punjab’ which was released for fans to enjoy on 4th June.

Chaubey admitted he was surprised when the 35 year-old-actor finished the rap in one take for the title song.��The Indian Express reports Chaubey sharing the following, “Shahid has become Tommy Singh, he has rapped even in Chitta Ve and this further helped him to rap in this track as well. He has enjoyed the process and actually finishes the rap part of the song in one take. We have used the same footage in the final track.”��The soundtrack has been composed by music director Amit Trivedi.

‘Udta Punjab’, which is based on the issue of drug addiction in the northern state, also stars Kareena Kapoor Khan, Alia Bhatt and is the Bollywood debut of Punjabi singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh. The movie is scheduled for release on 17th June.
