Abhishek Bachchan exits Abbas-Mustan’s next

Abhishek Bachchan

Abhishek Bachchan has opted out of Abbas Mustan’s next film – the remake of Tamil flick ‘Vettai’.

The film about two brothers was supposed to see Bachchan as the elder sibling – a cop who takes the flak for his younger brother played by John Abraham. Bachchan blamed date issues for the reason he has pulled out from the project.

Abbas Mastan told Times Of India, “The film was mostly likely to start early this year and both Abhishek and John had been sounded out for the project. However, like all major projects, there were the starting niggles involving the final script and the exact choice of locations, that derailed it temporarily.”

Rumour has it that Bachchan walked out of the project so he can sign Mani Ratnam’s new project. He is also reportedly considering a film with ‘OMG’ (2012) director Umesh Shukla.

According to reports, the hunt is on to find a replacement for Bachchan. “It will be tough, considering his camaraderie with John which has always worked at the box office,” said the source, adding, “It would be interesting to see who is willing and capable enough to step into his shoes.”
