Shakespeare is a huge inspiration for Bollywood of late, with films like ��Maqbool�۪ (2004), ��Omkara�۪ (2006) and ‘The Last Lear’ (2007) , being based on Macbeth, Othello and King Lear. News has it that director Tigmanshu Dhulia has decided to re-create Hamlet, for his next directorial and that Abhishek Bachchan has been approached for the role.
Hindustan Times confirmed, that the ��Paan Singh Tomar�۪ (2010) director approached producers Goldie Behl and Shrishti Arya, to produce the film under Rose movies. “When Tigmanshu narrated the idea, I was hooked. At that time, we couldn�۪t work on the project. Now that Tigmanshu has become a sought-after director, it�۪s an opportune moment to go ahead,� Behl was reported to have stated.
The last time the three film makers worked together was in Bachchan and Rani Mukherji starrer ��Bas Itna Sa Khwaab Hain�۪ (2001) and it had been then that��Dhulia had first thought about making this adaptation of the Shakespearean play.�ʉ��I can�۪t say anything right now since we are yet to start the casting process. Tigmanshu is still wrapping up the final draft and is also busy with Sahib Biwi Aur Gangster 2,� the producer verifies.
