Aasmah Mir to leave Times Radio

Aasmah Mir has announced she will be leaving Times Radio.

The popular broadcaster, who co-hosts the station’s breakfast show, shared the news on her social media.

“I’ve decided to step down from Times Radio Breakfast at the end of January,” she wrote.

Reflecting on her journey, Mir said, “Joining Times Radio in 2020 was one of the best decisions I ever made. We built something from scratch, and I’ve loved every day of it.”

She explained that the early hours have taken a toll, particularly as a single mother. “Getting up at 3 a.m. has a huge impact on home life, especially when you’re a single parent. My daughter was just four when I started, and now she just wants her mum to take her to school again. She deserves some normality – and a less tired, less grumpy mum.”

Mir also expressed her gratitude to her colleagues and listeners. “What a fantastic team I’ve had the pleasure to work with. You know who you are. And Stig. 😁 I’m not sure how we made it work, but we did.”

Reflecting on her time with her co-host, Stig Abell, she added, “I’ll miss our partnership, the moments of uncontrollable laughter that left me unable to continue. And to you, the listeners – thank you. On to the next chapter. X.”

Times Radio Breakfast is currently presented by Aasmah Mir and Stig Abell.
