‘Aashiqui 2’ to keep title track of original

The soundtrack of 1990’s ‘Aashiqui’ is perhaps one of the most successful Bollywood had seen at the time. Remembered even today, the title track Saason Ki Zaroorat will also be a part of the sequel by Vishesh Films and T-Series, it has emerged.

The song will be retained as a tribute to the original as producer Mahesh Bhatt told Bollywood Hungama, “Nostalgia is a deadly ‘drug’. And when a super hit song like this is used to evoke nostalgia it can set the box office ablaze. Our single objective of Aashiqui 2 is to make sure that the musical score of this film beats the record created by Aashiqui. I am certain using this track will do that trick”.

Bhushan Kumar also spoke about the song, when asked about whether it will be reworked in any way, “Sason Ki Zaroorat is a beautiful track. You can’t remix it. But we will recreate it, keeping the lyrics and the basic tune intact. We will rearrange the rhythm and make it more electronic to make it appealing for today’s generation”.

The film’s schedule is currently underway in South Africa and the movie will star Shraddha Kapoor and Aditya Roy Kapur.
