Aamir Khan: “Rishi Kapoor gave me the biggest compliment”

In it’s third week of release, Aamir Khan is still receiving much admiration for his home production ‘Dangal’ (2016). Amongst this praise, many of them have come from celebrities, however there’s one name that Khan has been extremely touched by.

“The one response that really touched me was of Rishi Kapoor ji’s tweet. He gave me the biggest compliment that I could imagine by calling me the Raj Kapoor of today. That was the biggest compliment that I got,” Deccan Chronicle reports the actor expressing.

H went on to add, “I was over the moon, I was thrilled and really happy. I thanked him. I can’t compare myself to Raj Kapoor there is no way about it. Considering this thought came to Rishi ji’s mind who is Raj Kapoor’s son means a lot to me.”

Khan had also received an interesting praise from his co-star and friend Salman Khan. “Salman’s tweet – ‘I love you personally but hate you professionally’ people might get confused about it. The fact that he is telling it publicly… there is lot of love in it and that is a big compliment as it is coming from my colleague,” Khan expressed.

As suggested, the tweet was taken a little out of context, however the ‘Dangal’ star understood exactly what his friend meant, as he expressed, “I don’t think there is an iota of hate in his tweet, he is saying it with lot of love and warmth. I can feel that. When we do a film we do it with belief in it we don’t know how the film will do after its release or how many people will it touch.”

Having continuously created great cinema, Khan expressed he isn’t trying to make a different type of cinema, he simply does these films for his enjoyment. “My intention is not to set a benchmark. I am not setting out to do films that will have or set benchmark my intention is to do films that make me happy,” he added.
