Aamir Khan on divorce from Kiran Rao: “It’s difficult for people to understand”

Aamir Khan, who is celebrating his birthday today, has opened up about his divorce from ex-wife, Kiran Rao.

In an interview with News18 India, Khan spoke about the mutual regard and affection they both still had for each other. He said, “It’s difficult for people to understand. This is because, usually, we don’t see a bond like this (among couples who separate).”

In a surprise announcement last year, Khan and Rao told the media that they had divorced but still considered themselves as good friends. He told the broadcaster, “And we wanted to give respect to the institution of marriage. We are going to hold each other’s hands and move ahead.”
