Aamir Khan admits to not choosing good roles in his career

Aamir Khan has always been known to be a perfectionist. His performances in a lot of his films, including the most recent ‘Secret Superstar’ (2017) have always been applauded critically and commercially, but this wasn’t always the case. Khan admits that there was a time when he didn’t choose the best of roles.

As according to the Deccan Chronicle, Khan reveals that his role in ‘Aatank Hi Aatank’ (1995) brought him to the realization that he can’t choose any role. He said, “After the release of this film, I was shocked. I felt like I shouldn’t have done the film. No sooner did I watch the film did I realize that I have really done a very bad job. I chose some not-so-good roles at the beginning of my career.”

Khan also added that this film made him realize how important an character’s look is, saying, “I felt we did not make the film keeping the Indian audiences in mind. It didn’t suit the weather conditions at all. Why would anyone wear a coat in this heat. We definitely went overboard. I couldn’t sleep for almost three to four weeks at a stretch. Where did my common sense disappear? It was a soul stirring realization. I started choosing films and characters with utmost sincerity and clarity. I started working on my character’s looks. This makes a character real and worth watching as well.”

Khan will next be seen in the much awaited ‘Thugs of Hindostan’, which is slated for a November 2018 release.
