Aaj Tak exceeds advertising limit by over five minutes
Media regulator Ofcom has found Aaj in breach for exceeding the advertising limit by 5 minutes and 30 seconds.
Rule 4 of broadcasting rules state: ���time devoted to television advertising and teleshopping spots on any channel in any one hour must not exceed 12 minutes.�
During its routine monitoring, Ofcom noted that on 22nd July the 22:00 clock hour exceeded the permitted advertising allowance.
The broadcaster acknowledged that the clock hour identified exceeded the permitted allowance of advertising. It also added
that “action is being taken to ensure such a mistake is not repeated in future.”
Ofcom noted that the broadcaster’s assurance that it is taking measures to improve compliance. Nonetheless, on this occasion, the amount of advertising in the 22:00 clock hour clearly exceeded the permitted allowance and breached Rule 4.
Ofcom also noted that the channel had previously recorded the same breach a few months ago. The regulator said; “In light of this further breach, we will continue to monitor the Licensee�۪s compliance with COSTA.”
