India’s most popular news channel, Aaj Tak has become the most “liked” TV service on social networking site, Facebook.

Aaj Tak, which has remained the top Hindi news channel in India since its launch 13 years ago, now boasts of 3.7 million “likes” on Facebook – the most for an Indian news channel.

Earlier this year, Aaj Tak launched an initiative to lure people to its Facebook page by hitting “like” and in return get a chance to see their picture on the channel. The campaign created a buzz on the social networking platform and continue the dialogue.

During this campaign, Ashish Bagga, group CEO, India Today Group, said, “This initiative solves two purposes for us. We are not only bringing the social media audiences to TV but we are also connecting the TV audience with our Facebook Fan Page. This is a perfect marriage between TV and digital. As India’s No. 1 Hindi news channel, we would like to reach out to our audiences across all the new platforms they are on.”
