Aaj Tak begins testing ahead of Sky launch

India’s leading news broadcaster Aaj Tak has begun testing, days before its official launch on Sky Digital.

As revealed exclusively on BizAsia.co.uk, the channel goes live on Sky on Monday 6th August.

Aaj Tak is a part of the TV Today Network, which also owns the English service Headlines Today and regional channels Tez and Dilli Aaj Tak in India.

The flagship channel Aaj Tak launched as a 24-hour news broadcaster in India in December 2000.

The channel has constantly topped ratings in India since its official launch as a 24-hour service in 2000. Aaj Tak’s slogan of being “Sabse Tez” meaning “Always first” has made it a firm favourite amongst TV viewers.

When contacted Aaj Tak about its UK distribution plans, they declined to comment saying simply the talks were at an advanced stage and will be making an announcement in the next few days. So will Aaj Tak launch in a bouquet similar to Sahara One and Filmy (as part of MAX Mix) or will it go independent? Whatever the case, keep it with BizAsia.co.uk for more updates.
