Aamir Khan’s ‘Mahabharata’ project scrapped?

When news of Aamir Khan planning on re-creating a mega blockbuster on the mythology ‘Mahabharata’, it sparked a lot of excitement, especially as it would have had an A-list casting, including Khan himself. But now there are rumours the whole idea has been shelved.

Reported on Deccan Chronicle, Khan had also at one point decided against a movie idea and instead turn it into a web series, but according to sources the ‘Secret Superstar’ (2017) actor has decided not to pursue this project altogether. Why? The source shares, “After weighing the pros and cons, Aamir has decided not to make a movie or series. For one, it would become controversial. But more importantly, the scale at which the project was being planned was not commercially viable. He would have to set aside five years for the project, which would mean losing out on at least three films. So there’s going to be no Mahabharata.”

Khan has been busy working on his forthcoming film ‘Thugs Of Hindostan’ which hosts an impressive all-star cast, with Amitabh Bachchan, Fatima Sana Sheikh, Katrina Kaif, Ronit Roy and Mouni Roy. The film is slated to release in November 2018.
